After KLS was hacked and everything was lost, I remember Brad started it up again, but invited his friends from a completely unrelated forum and put them as mods. After that it got hacked several more times and everyone left and just went off the picture...

As for the simpsons community, I remember all of those UNORIGINAL sites that came out on a weekly basis. They basicaly had the same content but had a differemt design to confuse people.

At this point does anyone even watch the show anymore?

but the difference is, in the olden days, you'd make a succession of crappy sites but gradually get better, and eventually you'd make a good one, and then that would happen all the time. but when KLS came along, that stopped all of a sudden.

but to be fair it wasn't just KLS, even beforehand there was another message board (called the message board) at frinkian.com which wasn't nooby like KLS but again didn't encourage people to start their own sites. i think also the decline of the top 100 and of maggied helped because they were the focal points of the community. but it was mainly kls hahaha. it's funny, because the simpsons was really the only TV show to have a proper community- family guy, south park, american dad etc don't- but now it doesn't any more. even MT2 has now got rid of its simpsons section- it's not that that's a bad thing, i was the one who proposed the idea and i think it's a reflection of the decline of the community rather than a contributing factor- but it does just go to show.

not that i can't talk really about people's lack of drive to make websites because i really am not webmaster material, but i rather enjoy putting the world to rights. :P

yeah, loads of people watch it still, they just don't go online and waste all their time making simpsons websites. and while that may seem like a good thing, it doesn't mean that people are now spending time with their friends, they're wasting their time on facebook.

personally, i think the show's quality has declined- but I've been watching since I was six or something (it used to be on BBC two every day, and a double bill on friday). i still think that most people believe it's still just as good as it always was, otherwise it wouldn't still get such a huge audience, and it wouldn't have gone on for so long.

Yeah. Not to mention all the MySQL errors it was getting. That was the purpose behind the merger. SMF is far more stable than IPB as under normal circumstances, MT2 never got errors like that, and if there was a problem, I would actually look into it as much as I could. Brad just sat there twiddling his thumbs. The SPK morons just spammed the forum to fuck.

Yeah. Griffin was the first one to ask me for grabpics, so at the time i just thought it was cool to get my stuff on a site. But Griffin frequently got baned from KLS, and returned using another name. Quite fun to figure out who he was. ;D
Those grabpics finally ended up on a quite decent site A.W. made. Later Stephen tryed to sell them on the reborn KLS. Only time i have made the rattle snake move on someone on the net.

That KL$ thing went weird places and just led even more to the decline because people were "buying" content. Even I did that a few times because I was simply being lazy in making the content, but people know that I can very easily make everything I requested myself, so I'm let off. :P

Well, at least now though Leif, all your grabs are going to be exclusive to one site right? :P

There are far more effective methods to earn money online than advertisements. I should know, I do one of them myself, it's how I pay for TCB. :P
